Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Apex & Abyss ("we," "us," or "our") handles information when you play our game. We respect your privacy and are committed to being transparent about our data practices.

The short version: Apex & Abyss backs up your game progress to the cloud so it survives a reinstall or a new device. By default the game signs in with an anonymous account — a random per-install ID not linked to your real identity. You can optionally link a Google or email/password account to secure your save and sign in on other devices; if you do, we collect the email address (and, for Google, the display name) tied to that account. We never see your password or payment-card details. No ads, no analytics, no crash-reporting SDKs, no advertising identifier, no location, no contacts. We do not sell your data.

1. What We Collect

To provide cloud backup of your game, Apex & Abyss collects a small, specific set of data — and nothing more:

An anonymous account identifier (default): When the game starts, it signs you in using Firebase Anonymous Authentication. This creates a random, auto-generated user ID unique to your installation, not linked to your real identity — no name, no email address, no Google account, and no device or advertising identifier. This is the default; you can optionally upgrade to a permanent account (see below).
Optional account details (only if you link an account): If you choose to secure your save by linking a Google account or creating an email/password account, we collect that account's email address, and for Google sign-in your Google display name and Google user ID. Passwords for email accounts are handled and stored (hashed) by Firebase Authentication (Google) — we never see or store your password. Linking an account is entirely optional; the game is fully playable as a guest.
Your in-game progress: Your save data — heroes, gold, gems, floor progress, and settings (a single game-progress file) — is stored on your device and also backed up to our cloud database (Google Firestore), keyed to your anonymous ID. This is what lets your progress survive reinstalling the app or moving to a new device.
Anonymous gameplay analytics: To understand how the game is played and where it can be improved, we record a small set of anonymous gameplay events — for example starting and finishing a battle (and whether you won), reaching a new floor, completing the tutorial, summoning heroes, leveling up, and opening the store. These events are tied only to your anonymous ID, contain no personal information, and are stored in our own Google Firestore database — we use no third-party analytics service.
Leaderboard entry (only if you submit one): If you choose to submit a score to the leaderboard, we store the display name you pick and your score numbers (such as floor reached and rating). This is optional — you are never required to submit a score, and nothing is posted to the leaderboard unless you choose to.
Support email: If you choose to email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply to you.

We explicitly do NOT collect your name, contacts, location, device identifiers, advertising ID, photos, microphone or camera access, or payment-card details. (We receive an email address only if you email support or choose to link an email/Google account, as described above.) The gameplay analytics described above are anonymous and first-party — stored in our own database and tied only to your anonymous ID; the game uses no third-party analytics SDKs, no crash-reporting SDKs, and no ads. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with third parties for advertising or marketing.

2. Network Requests

The game makes a small number of network requests to function:

Cloud save, leaderboard & analytics use Google Firebase (Anonymous Authentication and the Firestore database). Your anonymous ID, game-progress data, and the anonymous gameplay events described above are sent to and retrieved from Firebase to back up and restore your save and to help us improve the game; your data there is governed in part by Google's Privacy Policy.
Game art assets may be downloaded from our content delivery network the first time they are needed. The CDN provider may record standard server logs (such as IP address and request time) to operate the service; we do not use these logs to identify you.
Fonts: Our website loads fonts from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com); Google may log standard request metadata as described in Google's Privacy Policy.

3. Optional Account Sign-In

By default you play as an anonymous guest and your progress still backs up to the cloud. If you want to secure your save and be able to sign in on another device, you can optionally link a permanent account in Settings → Cloud Save → Account:

Google Sign-In — links your save to your Google account. We receive your Google account's email address, display name, and Google user ID. Authentication is handled by Google; we never receive your Google password.
Email & password — creates an account with an email address and a password you choose. The email address is stored with your account; the password is handled and stored (hashed) by Firebase Authentication (Google) — we never see or store it. You can reset it at any time via the "Forgot password?" link.

Linking an account is entirely optional and does not change what game data is stored — it only attaches a permanent, recoverable login to the save that already exists. You can sign out at any time in Settings, which returns the device to anonymous guest play.

4. In-App Purchases & Virtual Currency

Apex & Abyss offers optional in-app purchases. You can buy Diamonds (the in-game premium currency) in one-time packages, and there is an optional auto-renewing Monthly Pass subscription. Purchases are entirely optional — Diamonds are also earned through gameplay, and the full game is playable without spending money. All purchases are processed through Google Play Billing; we never receive or have access to your payment card details, which are handled solely by Google. Auto-renewing subscriptions continue until you cancel them, and you can manage or cancel a subscription at any time in the Google Play Store. Virtual currency and items have no real-world monetary value and are non-transferable and non-refundable except as required by applicable law or Google Play's refund policy.

5. Gacha / Randomized Rewards

The game includes a summoning system with randomized outcomes. Pull rates are displayed within the app on every summon banner. Current base rates are: Legendary 1%, Epic 10%, Rare 40%, Common 49%. A pity system guarantees an Epic or higher within 30 pulls and a Legendary within 90 pulls.

6. Data Deletion

You are always in control of your data:

Local save: the "Delete All Data" button in Settings permanently wipes the save on your device — progress, heroes, items, currency, and settings. Uninstalling the app also removes all locally stored game data.
Cloud data: to delete the progress backed up to our cloud database, use the in-game restore/backup controls, or email us at support@apexandabyss.org and we will remove your cloud record (your save document, your sign-in account if you linked one, and any leaderboard entry) within 30 days.
Anything else: if you have contacted support and want your emails deleted, or have any other deletion request, email support@apexandabyss.org and we will process it within 30 days.

7. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

Apex & Abyss is intended for players aged 13 and older and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone — including children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information (for example, by emailing support), please contact us at the address below and we will promptly delete it.

8. Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the data we hold. The only data tied to you is your anonymous account's game-progress backup (and a leaderboard entry, if you submitted one) — none of which identifies you personally. You can delete it yourself with the in-game controls, or request access or deletion by emailing us (see Data Deletion). If you have corresponded with support, you may request a copy or deletion of that correspondence at any time. We do not sell personal information. If you are located in the European Economic Area, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

9. Security

All network connections the game and website make use HTTPS encryption in transit. Your save data is protected by your device's own storage protections. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time — for example, if we add new sign-in options or change what data the game stores. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Effective Date" above and, for material changes, with a notice in the game or on our website. Continued use of the game after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
